Abstract:		 Report on Neolithic and Bronze Age evidence found during archaeological investigations in advance of development at the former Crabble Paper Mill on the outskirts of Dover. The excavated features consisted of a group of shallow, circular pits filled with black ashy soil containing charcoal and calcined flint fragments -- the charcoal was radiocarbon dated to the Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age. These were surrounded by an `apron' of dumped ashy soil on the downhill side, one pit being sealed by the dump. Other pits were found to the west of the main site. Evidence of earlier activity, as well as Late Iron Age/Early Roman and medieval evidence (the latter reported separately) were also found. Separately authored reports include
