Abstract:
Two possible medieval corn-driers found at Warren Lane, Ashford, represent a significant addition to features of this type and date in Kent, where few have yet been found. The different designs of the ovens may suggest subtly different uses and/or potentially different dates. The excavation site is relatively close to Repton Manor and may once have lain within the manorial estate. Evidence of a medieval or earlier field system predating the corn driers was also found.
