Abstract:
Mostly comprised of evidence recovered during the work of the Museum of London's Department of Greater London Archaeology (DGLA) over the last decade, presenting results from four geographical areas. Includes Mesolithic flint scatters from the Uxbridge and Colne valley area, an unbroken chain of environmental deposits from the Ice Age to post--medieval in north Southwark and the Thames floodplain along with a possible Bronze Age `lake village', burnt mound, circular barrow and Iron Age inhumations. Sites at Beddington and on the Wandle Gravels include an Iron Age hillfort in Ilford, whilst Mayfield Farm and west London brickearths play host to a `mini--hillfort' from the Late Bronze Age, a large double ditch enclosure and the butchered remains of the last aurochs in England.
