Abstract:
Details of pit circles (including a timber reconstruction) and penannular ditch, excavated in advance of the Welshpool bypass. The outer circle of twenty pits c 1m deep surrounded an unusual inner circle. This consisted of six intersecting pits, whose posts had been considerably larger than those of the outer ring and had burnt down. A large wood-lined pit just outside the inner circle contained a cremation burial with four burnt arrowheads. Parallels with Stonehenge/Woodhenge burials are suggested. AR
