Abstract:		 Partial investigation under the floors of Canterbury Cathedral has revealed that the Anglo-Saxon cathedral stood on the same site as its Norman successor. Four phases of building have been identified: the earliest dates back to the period of St. Augustine and the latest to the eleventh century.
