Abstract:
Excavations within the bailey of Botel Castle, in Galloway, have revealed traces of a road surface, medieval coins and pottery and numerous iron siege-arrowheads. Traces of defensive earthworks and timber structures, thought to be linked to the siege of the castle at intervals between 1307 and 1313 were also found. A range of material from earlier periods was also found.
