Abstract:
The practicability of universities involving themselves in rescue excavation was demonstrated in the summer term 1976 at Reading, where a large site due for gravel extraction at Aldermaston was salvaged over one month to reveal a Roman bath house and LBA settlement with ?two house-sites. Up to sixty students were involved, the costs were minimal, and much of the published report will be prepared during practical teaching sessions.
