Abstract:
Upholds the claims of Mt Gabriel and Alderley Edge as BA copper mines, and of waisted mauls as confined to prehistoric usage. Rock faces show differences between maul-pecked and metal-cut workings. The absence of BA smelting slags in Britain is explained by the low-grade technology evidenced in the iron content of BA as compared with later bronzes.
