Abstract:
The Culver Street site is the largest ever excavated in the Roman town and has yielded (despite difficult schedules of redevelopment) parts of several dozen Roman military and civilian buildings and also evidence for cultivation within the walls for at least a century. Military barracks, ?tribunes' houses, and well-to-do houses including one with a table leg of Parian marble were examined, and evidence of the Boudican fire was prominent. A 4th century aisled building of uncertain function and a granary, drying kiln, and AS sunken building were examined.
