Abstract:
Highlights the archaeological potential of Britain's coastline, where the inter-tidal zone allows access to otherwise inundated prehistoric and later landscapes. The threat to this resource may be alleviated by integrated management as advocated by PPG 20: Coastal Planning. EH has initiated a number of survey programmes, and is collaborating with RCHME on a rapid nationwide assessment project, whose aims are summarised.
