Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Archaeological recording during flood relief work demonstrated that the present bridge of two small semi-circular arches is a seventeenth- or eighteenth-century rebuilding of a late medieval bridge. This latter had two wide arches spanning twice the width of its replacement and had been constructed of ashlar of local Moolham stone, much of which was re-used in the later structure. There was limited evidence of an earlier wooden bridge. | ||||||
