Abstract:		 Uses field criteria to map the locations of seabanks on the enclosed marshes of the lower Banwell, in an area where sea levels have continued to rise. Suggests that although the banks appear in the cartographic record for the first time in the mid-eighteenth century, they are unlikely to be post-medieval in date. Notes that because of rising sea levels the banks over the course of time have been significantly raised and shortened, and the outfall on the Banwell has been moved nearer to the coast.
