Abstract:		 Describes and discusses the results of archaeological excavation across a suspected prehistoric burial mound, one of a group of such features within Beacon Hill Wood, Mendip. This was undertaken as part of a wider programme of archaeological investigations. A section through the barrow yielded a Middle Bronze Age cremation burial and well-preserved palaeoenvironmental remains relating to that period which cast new light on the vegetational history of Beacon Hill and its environment.
