Abstract:
Two monuments originally in the Shrewsbury Aisle (formerly the south chancel chapel), the first an alabaster and freestone table tomb erected in about 1585 (and moved to the south transept in 1935), the second an elaborate wall monument constructed soon after the Earl's death in 1590 and still in the chapel. `Appendix 1: the sixth Earl's tomb -- the dismantled tomb of 1584--5' (58--9) and `Appendix 2: sixth earl -- the major tomb of 1590' (59--60) are followed by `Appendix 3: sixth Earl's major tomb' (60) and `Appendix 4: sixth Earl's major tomb' (61) which detail various aspects surveyed.
