Abstract:
Reports the excavation of a number of intercutting pits and walls, seven of which date to the twelfth century and are heavily truncated by later features. A large assemblage of twelfth- to thirteenth-century pottery was found, mostly redeposited in the later contexts. No Early Medieval material was recovered despite the site reputedly being the location of the Saxon royal palace. Includes separately authored reports on:
