Abstract:
[ST 9369]. Two rectangular tile kilns and two pottery kilns, one of double flued type, were stratigraphically linked. Products included cooking pots, bowls and highly decorated wares as well as a very remarkable 'dragon' jug. The tile kilns, producing inlaid tiles, are possibly the earliest commercial tilery known. Dating: at the turn of 13th/14th centuries. There are several specialist reports and many illustrations of tiles etc.
