Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Excavation at Goat's Hole, Paviland, has demonstrated the existence of in-situ deposits possibly of Middle Pleistocene age. Some of the scree deposits here are rich in artefacts and faunal remains. These are largely of upper Palaeolithic date with some Mousterian material also present. Excavations at nearby Hound's Hole revealed a complex Quaternary stratigraphic sequence. Partial examination of Foxhole Cave produced evidence of early Mesolithic occupation and there is thought to be the potential for the recovery of undisturbed Palaeolithic material at greater depth. | ||||||
