Investigations carried out here have had two principal components; firtsly the carrying out of a detailed survey of the hillside on which there are recorded features of both mining and non-mining function of a variety of different ages, and secondly, the excavation of an area of locally unusual `primitive' mine workings. This work includes a study of environmental evidence including charcoal recovered from various mining sites in Britain and elsewhere. | ||
