Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
This work extends the geographical area already examined, suggesting an alternative to the RCHME classification for shielings and farmsteads and distinguishing between the two. Not all the building types can be securely dated: a hearth at Simy Folds was radiocarbon dated to AD 687--892 and this was supported by coin evidence from a similar building, although charcoal from the site of Dubby Sike produced a date of AD 70--321. | ||||||
