Abstract:		 Rumenesea seawall is an early medieval coastal defence system on Romney Marsh. Land behind the nine kilometre wall was reclaimed in places, but other areas remained subject to tides and could not therefore be settled. Archaeological and topographical information for early medieval settlement is noted.
