Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
the authors report on a study employing a range of scientific techniques to understand the motivations and concerns of the society that built the Early Bronze Age henge of Pict's Howe in Dumfriesshire. The techniques produced three snapshots of the monument's environmental context in the Neolithic and Early Bronze Age, both before and during its construction. The authors observe that the monument was sited at a transitional spot between `wildscape' (waterlogged peat) and `tamed' land (arable fields). Possible reasons for this location are discussed | |||
