Abstract:
Proposes the hypothesis that courtyard houses were large buildings having one main roof, as opposed to being individually roofed and surrounding a central open courtyard as is more generally accepted. Suggests the term `West Cornwall galleried houses' should be used to refer to the single-roofed interpretation of the stuctures.
