Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Describes the re-erection of a standing stone which had been removed from its original position in the early 1990s. The original socket was located and excavated, and its primary fill (considered to be undisturbed) sampled. Charcoal from this fill was dated to the first'“third centuries AD. Suggests that either the stone was first erected in the Roman period, or that it was re-erected at this time and was originally of Neolithic or Bronze Age date. Discusses the evidence for both these theories. PP-B | |||||
