Proposes that traces of an early medieval cattle ranch, perhaps descended from a Roman saltus, can be discerned from patterns of field boundaries in north Gower. Similar systems of land use are identified in mid and north Wales. The Gower example is thought to be the upland element in a lowland-focused multiple estate noted some years ago. | |||||
