'There is hardly a regulation mark which has received less attention than the leaden textile seal.' Almost all are archaeological finds because discarded after use. The sealings normally consist of two (sometimes four) discs joined by a strip and stamped. They can be 5mm-80 diameter. Discusses origins, spread in Europe, cloth sealing in England, types, textile imprints, etc. Date range: 13th to early 19th century. | |
