Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
The paper looks at the ways in which socio-economic histories between c. 1780 and 1880 are built into the fabric of Carmarthenshire farms, ranging first over a general view of farms in their landscape setting, then giving a more detailed examination of their design. The author contends that althouch the spatial distribution of building types maps patterns of land use and value, there is also a social landscape of building in which the hierarchy of building types is a mirror to the structure of local society. | |||||||
