Abstract:		 Article presenting the highlights of two recent projects. Excavation in advance of development of the Sittingbourne Northern Relief Road uncovered extensive prehistoric remains, including a Bronze Age ring ditch and an enclosure ditch that was probably of the Iron Age, as well as unurned cremations and well-preserved salt-working hearths of the Roman period. At Leysdown Road on the Isle of Sheppey, evaluation and later excavation revealed a complex landscape of Iron Age, Roman and medieval field systems and enclosures. In addition, a funerary pit dating from the first century AD was recorded during evaluation of an adjacent site. LD
