Short article describing a stone effigy of a woman with a baby, rediscovered in St Michael's Church, Sittingbourne, during the course of a graffiti survey. The recumbent effigy has been obscured from public view for more than a century because of the church organ. Descriptions of the figure in old church publications are very vague, and little is known about it. However, initial investigations suggest a 14th century date. LD | ||||||||
