After years of neglect the southern claustral range of Kerswell Priory was largely demolished in 1985. It had been a five-bay structure with a central open hall flanked by single-bay rooms, conforming to the most common Devon vernacular house plan of the late Middle Ages. Its fine late medieval roof is described. After the Dissolution the range was converted to a farmhouse and was later turned to agricultural use. Separately authored contributions describe the post-medieval documentation relating to the site, an excavation to the north of the church, and a study of the sixteenth-century and later former mansion house, now the farmhouse, on the opposite side of the farmyard; they include | ||||||
