Abstract:
Schwabedissen (79/6195) takes an unduly pessimistic view of the possibilities for 14C dating of the European Bronze Age. The principal difficulty is that of dating crosslinks with the Aegean world; but if one is rigorous about admitting only actual imports, not imitations or near parallels, towards the construction of chronologies, the Central European 14C dates when corrected fit the traditional historical chronology perfectly well. Many more dates are needed, however, and problems of 14C dating in the Aegean itself remain intractable.
