A brief report on recent survey work, including air reconnaissance, exploratory fieldwork and excavation, with a note on the reconstruction of a timber Roman gateway at Abertanat. Air reconnaissance indicated two areas of interest near to Clawdd Coch Farm. Clawdd Coch A was tentatively identified as comprising elements possibly representing a camp, although further work on ancient palaeochannels in the area will be needed before a more definite interpretation can be made. Clawdd Coch B was identified as an internal field oven. Some metalwork was found nearby and further fieldwalking is to be organised to locate more evidence of this kind. Work in the near future will concentrate on Clawdd Coch A and B. | ||||||
