Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
There are now 8000 seals of 14th to 18th centuries known, a high proportion originating in Norfolk and Essex, but well over 80% turning up in London. Information on textiles comes from the impress of the cloth on the lead. The seals were a form of quality control and tax receipt. The various fabrics being sealed are discussed for the information given about imports and exports, providing sidelights on documentary sources. | |
