Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
The juxtaposition of prehistoric and early medieval monuments seen at Yeavering, Sutton Hoo, and in the Boyne Valley has less to do with continuity of ritual significance than with attempts by a social elite to legitimize their position through reference to the past. Similar considerations would apply to Forteviot (henges and Pictish palace), Thwing (henge, Late Bronze Age ringwork, and 8th century AD high status cemetery), and Tara. | ||||||||||
