Abstract:
Addresses the effects that different kinds of cultural knowledge, as well as intensity and type of contact, have on the process of remembering and reproducing two different kinds of images. In a series of exercises, art students were given varying degrees of exposure to different kinds of images and objects from different cultures and were asked to make reproductions. The results of these experiments have implications for archaeological interpretations both in the field and post excavation.
