Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
The paper discusses the historical context of the seventeenth-century and later brick house Court of Noke, Staunton-on-Arrow, and its gardens, and questions a number of beliefs about the estate, uncovering a more complex tenure than has previously been allowed. The descriptive results of an archaeological assessment of the site, carried out as part of restoration work, are analysed, and the historical and archaeological evidence are collected together in order to suggest an interpretation of the chronological and spatial development of the formal garden and water features. | ||
