Abstract:
This fourth volume in the series on the pictorial evidence for the medieval buildings of York deals principally with two buildings, linked in origin but with very different histories. The remains of St Mary's Abbey church have slowly dwindled, while the King's Manor has remained in use to this day, with alterations and additions from every century and even incorporating stonework originally from the abbey.
