Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Reassesses the evidence for an Anglo-Saxon inhumation cemetery which was partially excavated in 1913 and 1982. In total eighteen burials have been recorded. No osteological reports are available, but an analysis of the grave goods suggests that all but the unaccompanied burials were female: there were no definite male graves. The main period of use was from the mid- to late-sixth century. The artefacts are typical of cemeteries of this period and suggest that these particular graves represent the lower end of the social scale. Includes: | ||||||||||||||||
