Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Ovolo 3 of Cinnamus is now known to be two ovolos (3A and 3B); a study of moulds and sherds with these ovolos clarifies some points concerning the associations and dating of Cinnamus. Ovolo 3A was used by Cinnamus, Pugnus and Secundus; 3B originated with Libertus, and was later used by Sacer, Cinnamus, Paullus, Anunus II and Borillus. The connections between these potters are discussed. Associated signatures and decorative details indicate that 3B was used early in Cinnamus' career (c 150-165). Nine poinçons are listed which originated in Libertus' workshop, but seem to have been used only by other potters, including Cinnamus. The associations between Cinnamus and Cerialis, Paullus and Albucius are analysed, and a table gives a detailed picture of the figure-types used by the members of this group of potters. C J | ||
