Increased fieldwork over the past 15 years has transformed knowledge of the county's prehistory. The Mesolithic, previously thought absent here, is now well represented; Neolithic occupation is now demonstrated on the high moors as well as in more favoured areas; and a stake-built hut at Cefn Cilsanws contained Peterborough pottery. Several new Beaker burials include one with ?boat-symbolism in the cairn, Bronze Age finds include a haft-flanged axe and a gold bracelet, and excavations at Twyn Llech-faen hillfort produced a little pottery of ?Iron A type. |
