Traces the growth of computers for archaeological work from the 1960s in terms of changes in hardware, usage, software, and users. The 1985 and 1988 IFA surveys of computer usage indicate recent changes. A continuing problem is the lack of comprehensive management structures and the snatching of short-term solutions rather than the preparation of long-term programmes. |
