Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
The traditional belief that Early Christian Scilly contained a number of small insular hermitages is proved incorrect: in form the known religious sites (commonly a small stone church with cemetery) resemble the ordinary settlement churches of Cornwall. This view fits well with the known pattern of RB settlements and with the recent deduction (80/6602) that Scilly was probably one large island when the churches were founded. DG. See also 81/7628. |
