Abstract:
Two separate articles consider this find, which was retrieved in four complete and virtually undamaged sections from the Billingsgate Lorry Park site by the Thames. XRF and X-ray examination indicated at least two refits and repairs; a replica is being made for experimental work as the original cannot be restored to playable condition. History and comparanda of the buisine, the long straight trumpet, suggest that Billingsgate is the oldest (14th century) survivor.
