Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
This illustrated paper concentrates on the use of the horse-wheel for threshing, in the N York Moors and S Tees-side, where over 200 past or surviving examples are known. Developing from Scottish designs, such wheels began to be installed in the district about 1790 and were in general use by early 19th century. Contemporary comments, mechanical details and surviving structures are discussed, and other regional studies noted. D W C |
