[SO 0292]. The third (final) season of excavation revealed further complexities in the vicus, which was intensively occupied from c AD 75 to late in 3rd century. The life of a building could be as little as fifteen years in this highly competitive area close to the fort entrance. Massive dumping of gravel to counter flooding made the later levels difficult to excavate and interpret, but there was a large late Antonine timber building 44 ft long with a double-doored entrance. A circular building 17 ft in diameter built on the final surface of the road to the baths demonstrates the resurgence of native traditions. In a wider area of Central Wales, recent aerial photography, fieldwork and selective excavations have produced much new information including new fort and camp sites giving evidence of different campaigns.
