Abstract:
Discusses and graphs the recent growth in financial provision for archaeological work in the 600 sq miles of Greater London and the consequent development of organizations to perform it; notes the main findings of excavations in the last five years; and identifies the major academic and organizational needs of the near future. In six years there has been an increase from two professional archaeologists with an £1100 annual budget to 76 professionals plus as many active amateurs and £250,000.
