A complete section was drawn of the pipe-trench cut in 1970 through the presumed Saxon palace, and features in it are tentatively correlated with those shown on air photographs; pottery and other finds confirm a Saxon date for the complex. Appended are details of the historical data, animal bones, pottery and small finds. and a 14C date from a possible sunken hut. |
