Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Three locations were selected for excavation at the site of the Roman-period town of Bannaventa in Northamptonshire, following the removal of topsoil across a larger area. This short article outlines the findings from each location. No traces of stone buildings were seen either in the excavations or in the wider stripped area. Large numbers of small stakeholes and a few postholes were found but in only one case did a fragment of timber-framed building survive. The overall impression was of a relatively poor community, with a continuity of occupation from pre-Roman times. LD |
