Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
An excavation at Brixworth, Northamptonshire, revealed three interments of the late Saxon period, four pits that were possibly contemporary with the cemetery, a wall that was probably of the 11th or 12th century, and a large building likely to have been of the 13th century. The latter could have been associated with a drying kiln and 13th-century pits in an area to the east previously excavated by Woods. The present investigation site had been levelled in the 18th century, destroying all occupation layers and preventing detailed interpretation. LD |
