Abstract:		 Recent fieldwork near Puttenham located a series of historic fishponds and the earthworks of former fishponds, which seem to have been part of a high concentration of such features in the area, possibly dating back to the early-thirteenth century. The article records these sites and compares them with further fishpond sites in Surrey located during other surveys undertaken by the author. A distinctive type of fishpond is identified as associated with former common land in Surrey. These are discussed in relation to the limited research undertaken to date.
