Abstract:
The Welsh Laws, surviving in Welsh and Latin texts from c 1200 to 1500, contain information about the domestic buildings of princes, lords, and villeins or bondmen, as well as about mills, smithies, etc. Apart from castles, there are no standing domestic buildings in Wales from before 1200; identification of the categories described in the Laws must therefore come from excavation.
